Christmas Table Runners

A table runner is the smallest change that makes a table look prepared for. It costs less than a centrepiece, stores flat, and does not have to be moved when the food arrives.

Quilt or velvet

Quilted cotton is the traditional choice: textured, matte, and it sits flat without sliding. Velvet is smoother and catches the light, which suits a candlelit table and photographs better.

Three lengths

14″×48″ suits a small kitchen or console table. 14″×72″ is the common dining size. 14″×108″ is for a long table with an overhang at both ends, which is how a runner is supposed to look.
