How Personalization Works

Most of what we sell has no name on it. Table runners, sofa covers, tree skirts, ornaments and apparel are printed designs, and there is no box to type in — you choose the design and the size and that is the order.

The personalised line is the wall clocks and watches, where a name is set into the artwork itself. This page explains how that works. If you are buying anything else, the only thing worth reading here is the production timing at the bottom.

The four steps

1. Choose your design

Browse by theme, by who it is for, or by the occasion. Each design comes in several sizes or finishes.

2. Enter the name

Type the name exactly as you want it to appear, including capital letters. You can enter up to 25 characters: letters, numbers, spaces and accented characters. Wall clocks read best at 12 characters or fewer and watch dials at 10 or fewer; longer names print, just smaller.

3. We check it by hand

Before anything goes into production, a person reads your order. If the name looks like a typo, or if the characters will not fit the design cleanly, we email you first rather than guess.

4. Production and delivery

Every line takes 5 to 7 business days to make. Delivery is a further 7 to 15 days in the United States, or 10 to 25 internationally. You get a tracking number as soon as your parcel leaves the workshop.

A few things worth knowing

  • Check your spelling. We reproduce exactly what you type. We cannot change a name once production has started.
  • Accented characters. Accents and diacritics print the same as any other character, so names like José or Nguyễn come out exactly as you type them.
  • Ask for a proof. Put a note on the order and we will email you a digital proof before production starts.
  • Change of mind. A piece carrying somebody's name cannot be sold to anyone else, so we cannot take it back for a change of mind. If it arrives damaged, or the name is wrong through our error, we remake it at no cost.
  • Ordering for a date. Count back at least four weeks from the day you need it in hand. For Christmas, order by the end of November.
